From: Sebastien Bourdarie

ISEC2003
RADIATION BELT SCIENCE
September 2-5, 2003
TOULOUSE, France

Meeting Description
——————-

The International Space Environment Conference 2003: Radiation Belt Science,
also known as ISEC 2003, is the 8th in a series of international meetings
devoted to advancing our understanding of Earth’s space environment and its
effects on technology and on humans in space. Previous meetings were held in
Dubna (Russia), Taos, New Mexico (USA), Brussels (Belgium), The Hague (The
Netherlands), Moscow (Russia), and Farnborough (United Kingdom) and Queenstown
(New Zealand). The primary emphasis of ISEC 2003 will be radiation belt science,
but papers on other energetic charged particles and their effects are also
encouraged. Topics to be covered include:

– Theory, modeling and observations of radiation belts particles, cosmic rays
and solar energetic particle events.
– ULF and VLF waves and their effects on energetic charged particles.
– Aspects of space weather relevant to the radiation belt

An informal, workshop-style meeting is planned, with plenty of time for
discussion and communication. Invited and contributed presentations will be
given in oral and poster sessions and there will be time scheduled for group
discussion on key research issues and outstanding questions.
